The mighty UK-based Tru Thoughts label is taking a well-deserved victory lap. Having recently turned ten, the venerable soul/hip-hop imprint is celebrating its first decade in the game. This guest mix celebrates some of the countless artists the label has championed over the years. Originally aired on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show, this mix is like an incredible stroll down memory lane.

Falty DL (Planet µ Records) - DL Can't Escape His Apartment Mix

Falty Dl and Mike Slott have been in touch recently, looking to make NYC a lil bit brighter. That's involved a little bit of racquet ball, a lil fine coffee and no doubt a nice wee scone. Then home to make more sophistimicated, beautiful, bumping music. At some point when Mike was beaten down to match point he asked DL to provide a mix for our site and a week later, bang! An amazing breathe of fresh air arrived in our inbox. I kid. Those dudes next to never leave their apartement. Hence the name that DL has given this mix.

By now, you have probably heard of Randomform, from one of his many releases under different pseudonyms. The super-prolific musician, doesn't just impress you in quantaty, but in quality as well. Tying in with CL's previous release, "Redapt" is a moodier piece of work, that reminds us of the good old IDM days, where the complex and mechanical beats were constantly fighting with beautiful melodies. This is the next step forward: the increasingly complex and contracted programmed beats, are fighting this time with drones from outer-space, with a modern approach and classic Randomform's signature that shouldn't disappoint you.
